Mrs. Dona Spicer, 89, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, March 8 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, March 10 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County, with Elder Chad O’Quinn officiating. Visitation will be held 7-9 Friday evening at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Spicer was born January 9, 1918 in Geneva County, Alabama, to the late Mallie and Roxie Hall. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Spicer was a farmer and a former employee of the Hawkinsville Cotton Mill and Fitzgerald Mills. She was a member of the Holiness faith and had attended the First Assembly Of God.

Mrs. Spicer is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Julia Ann & Vernie Hudson of Hampton, VA and Betty & John Martin of Memphis, TN; son & daughter-in-law, Eddie & Debbie Justice of Fitzgerald; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McElroy Spicer, 1 daughter, Louvelle McDuffie, 1 son, Alvin Justice and 15 brothers and sisters.
