Mrs. Veda Clements Williams

IRWIN COUNTY - Mrs. Veda Clements Williams, 74, died Saturday, APril 13, 2013, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County with the Revs. Harris Johnson and Wayne McCrimmon officiating.

Interment will be in the Clements Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. tomorrow at the Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. WIlliams was born in Irwin County on AUgust 2, 1938, to Emmett Elijah and Wilma Blount Clements. A graduate of Irwin County High School, she was a member of the Happy Three trio as a teenager, where she developed a love of music. She taught piano and wrote many songs, two of which will be shared at the service.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and also helped with organizing the first vacation Bible school, as well as assisting with other children's activities.

Survivors include: son, Greg (Sheila) Williams of Irwinville; daughter, Karen (Rudy) Bauer of Baton Rouge, La.; brother, Lamar Clements of Irwin County; sisters, Vivian Farr of Charlotte, N.C., and Rhonda Batts of Macon; grandchildren, Amelia, Heather, Kayla, and Keil Bauer, all of Baton Rouge, Jessica WIlliams of Atlanta and Garrett Williams of Irwinville.
