DAVID A. REA (RAY)  FAMILY

David A. Rea was born in 1844 in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, and died January 22, 1923 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia.

He married Mary E. Wilson on July 24, 1892 in Monticello, Georgia.  They had two sons born in Monticello, Claude Gordon Rea in 1888 and Walter H. Rea in 1881.

 

David was a Civil War Veteran, enlisting in Company E, 10th Infantry Regiment, the Clayton County Sharpshooters.

It is believed that he was a Deputy Sheriff and U.S. Marshall. 

1900 Census for Jasper County shows him as manager of Pauper's Farm.

He was a member of the Knights of the Golden rule, June 22, 1882
