particulars if this sad affair....

16 June 1870:  Charles Sherwood, in Jasper Co. murdered by Benjamin Waits...

22 Sept 1870:  Henry Bankes, a negro was shot...

18 July 1872:  Gilbert D. Greer shot dead his brother-in-law, 

Joseph A. Middlebrook. (NOTE: There is a really long report on this)

31 Dec. 1873:  G.M.Key, know as Duff Key, shot by his cousin Truman Conwell, 

both of Jasper Co. Key died;

Died 9 Feb. Reubin Jordan..age 71..

16 Feb. 1877:  Brack Goolsby shot and killed Jack Petty in self defense at Hillsboro....

23 Feb. 1877:  James D.Hardy killed John W.Parnell. 

Hardy gave himself up, claiming self defense...

10 Jan. 1878:  John Gay..committed suicide last week...His gin house and 

entire crop of cotton had been burned, it is supposed this was the cause 

of the deed...

5 Jan. 1879:  Lewis W. Pou, of Madison, GA..a large planter in Jasper Co.

Killed himself with a pistol....

4 March 1879:  Death of Berry T.Digby, was sheriff many years...

29 Jan 1879:  Burrell McCullees was arrested, in Griffen, for killing a man 

named Smith in Jasper Co.

8 Feb. 1881:  Double wedding...Henry F. Edwards to Miss Mary E. Adams...

Yancy was badly cut..Campbell was killed.  Hunter was released from custody

after a preliminary investigation....

13 Nov. 1884:  Jasper Superior Court...Walter R. Roby..found guilty of 

incendiarism, 13 years in pententiary...Gilbert D. Greer, charged with 

assault with intent to murder, sentenced to 8 years ...

Dave Holt, charged and found guilty of stealing flour from Mr.Benton's

mill. 5 years...(NOTE: seems justice was a little blind here)

17 Feb 1885 Tuesday:  Judge G.T. Bartlett died at the home of his son in
