QUARTERMAN SILVER GOBLET RETURNED: 1885From the Florence Times. A silver goblet was recently sent by Oscar Smith, of Wilkesbarre, Pa., to the care of Rev. B.G. Covington for a Mrs. A.S. Quarterman, at Savage, Marion county, S.C. On the goblet is the engraving: "Mrs. Augustus S. Quarterman, from the Walthourville Presbyterian Church, January, 1858." Mr. Smith came into possession of the goblet from the estate of his father, who was an officer in Sherman's army when it passed by Walthourville, Ga., at which time it was missing, and he recently addressed a letter to Mrs. Quarterman at Walthourville expressing the hope that she might be still living, and proposing to forward the goblet to her. The letter was forwarded to Savage, where it was received and answered, and now after a lapse of twenty years the goblet which had been presented to Mrs.Quarterman by her church has been restored.
