BLALOCK, QUEEN posted by Marie Kennedy on Thursday, October 1, 1998

I am trying to locate information on Wade Hampton QUEEN who lived in Madison County in 1870. He was born in SC in 1812 and was married to Cansada. Their children were Lorenzo D., William, Margaret Melissa, Joel, Nancy, Rebecca, and Teresa. Margaret Melissa Queen was married to Asbury BLALOCK. They also lived in Madison Co. in 1870. I am also trying to find out more about Asbury BLALOCK. Wade Hampton Queen's household contained a 12 year old girl named Mary Blalock so I believe the Queens and Blalocks were related in some way other than Margaret and Asbury's marriage. I am willing to share info. Thank you.

COMER posted by Don Fucich on Saturday, October 3, 1998

Peggy McCarley, you asked how did the Town of Comer get it's name. Madison Co., CoC gave me a sheet that states the following: " Comer, for a time known as "Honey Pot", was settled in 1891 and incororated in 1893/ It was later named for Rebuen Comer and Comer family who were large land ownerns in the area. However, James Polk Gholston and his sons Will and Knox were perhaps the most influential. They build a large hotel, bank, stores and developed several successful businesses. Comer is located at the junction of State Highway 72 and State Highway 98 and has an altitude of 650 feet. My wife is a Strickland, whoes ancestors lived and some still live in Comer. Let's swap data. Don

DANIEL, REDWINE posted by Debra Gates on Monday, October 19, 1998

James Simpson Daniel (b 1811) married Elizabeth Ann Redwine (b 1820) in Hall County GA in Oct. 1837. I'm trying to locate where they migrated from, who his parents/siblings were. The family migrated in late 1849 to AR where many descendants remain today. If anyone has info on this line, I'd appreciate help. Also, if any of my data is helpful to someone I'll be happy to share.

LOONEY, ROACH posted by John Sears on Tuesday, October 20, 1998

Am interested in tracking the ancestry of George Washington Looney, bc. 1864 / Ga. He married (1st) in Madison Co., Ga. in mid 1880's. He may have had a sister named Mary Jane Looney who married a Charles Roach in Madison Co., Ga. in mid 1880's. Although there are many with the Looney surname in the south...and there is a very active Looney Discussion group on the Internet... I've been unsuccessful in locating info regarding the origins of these two Looney ancestors.
