MOORE, George W. b.1805 in GA, died in Fayette Co. Ga between 1880 and 1900. Listed in 1830, 1840, 1850 in Census of Newton Co., Ga. Children: from 1850 census - Seleta 20, Lauara A. 16, Sarah J. 16, George W. 13, Zadoch 9, Rachel 9, Margaret 2. Wife died before 1850. He married Sarah Piper Dec. 1, 1825. Is he related to the Moore Family of Newton or Walton Co.? Family history - many relatives in both these Counties. He married a 2d time to Nancy Ellis, April 11, 1852 in Newton Co. and they moved to Fayette Co. The 2d George W. Moore is my great gradfather, his daughter, Mary Alice Moore married Robert W. Moore in Newton Co.Nov. 9, 1884 [my grandparents] Could the John Moore listed in the 1830 Census of Walton Co., be his father?Ref. 1830 Census of Walton Co., GA, page 5. JOHN MOORE, 2 males under 5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 40-50, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 5-10 and 1 female 30-40. It is possible that the male 50-60 is the Alexander Moore listed in the 1820 Census. SEE BELOW. Family reports that my grandmother, Mary Alice Moore Rowland, talked about visiting family in Newton and Walton Counties. George W. Moore would have been a male 20 to 30 and would have already married. George Moore listed in 1830 Census of Newton County that fits age range. Could he be son of this John Moore. Other males of the Moore family in 1830 census of Walton Co., Ga. JAMES J. MOORE, page 12, 1 male 50-60, 1 male 10-15, 2 females 5-10, 2 females 10-15, 1 female 40-50), ROBERT R. Moore, page 12 ( 1 male 25-30, 1 male 30-40, 1 female 15-20, 1 female 20-30, this appears to be two couples) 1820 Census of Walton Co., Ga. Includes EXANDER [sic. I am trying to find the parents of Sarah Dukes or DUKE who married THOMAS TAYLOR on 7, Nov. 1824 in Newton County, Ga. I am assuming she was a resident of this county until moving on to Gwinnette County, Ga. by 1827.She named her sons (in birth order) John Duke Taylor, William F. Taylor, Thomas Joshua Taylor, and James Polk Taylor. If the old naming pattern works right, her father would have been William. It worked on her first child.
