AYCOCK, BROADNAX, USHER posted by Barbara J. Cloud on Thursday, July 22, 1999

Trying to locate the inventory to a will of a Robert O. Usher. Born 1809 and died in 1859. In his will he refers to slaves inherited from his mother.I have the will ,but the inventory was not there. One of Mr. Ushser's pieces of property was called "Home Plantation". Mr. Usher was a resident of Covington and Walnut Grove, GA. that would cover Newton and Walton counties. Evidence point that his estate was filled in Newton county. There were marriages between the Broadnax and Aycock's and the Ushers

RILEY posted by Walter Mason on Friday, July 23, 1999

I am looking for information on the RILEY family who were in that part of Newton Co now in Rockdale from about 1827-1845. Paddy RILEY, brother of Abraham is thought to be buried at Middle Ridge, about 10 miles from Conyers. He was a bachelor, and came from Laurens Co. SC. Abraham lived below Old Salem Campground, which I gather is still in Newton Co. His wife Hannah and her daughter Frances are buried on their farm. Any help in establishing residency of the RILEYs, and the timeframe of their residence in the area will be greatly appreciated. I will be glad to share the largely anecdotal information which I have with anyone interested in the RILEYS. Mrs. Emma RILEY WOODS of Conyers had Abraham's bible in the early 1900's. Any information on her and her descendents would also be most welcome! Walter MASON

STEWART posted by Haqqah Bint-Robert on Friday, July 30, 1999

My paternal Grandmother Elora D. Stewart died in Newton County on January 27, 1959. She was married to Albert Stewart and their son was Robert Lee Stewart. I want to know if you have her death certificate on file. If you do, I would like to have a copy of it. If you don't have it on file, I would like to know the reason why?
