- COOK, HINTON, VINCENT posted by John Paul Myrick on Saturday,
January 1, 2000
- I need help in locating ANY information, particularly
parents of Margaret Cook, born c. 1854 in Georgia. She
later married Daniel Hinton and, in the 1900 Henry County
census, was shown living with her daughter Effie and her
husband Charley Vincent in the Shake Rag district of
Henry County. They moved to Alabama about 1912. I believe
she may have had a brother named Ben. Her children were
Effie, Harvey, Willie, and Lonnie. She died in Jefferson
County, Alabama in 1930. Also need information on Daniel
Hinton, as his name is the only information I have. Also
looking for information on her son-in-law, Charley
Vincent, born 1876 in Georgia and died in 1922 in
Jefferson County, Alabama. He had brothers named Rufus
and Ed. He may have married Effie Hinton in Fulton
County. Rufus had a daughter who lived in or near Atlanta
at one time and had a husband by the name of Bill Jones.
I am at a dead standstill so ANY help will be greatly
appreciated.

- Looking for Alexander Wheeler and wife shown on the 1850
census as "H". The Henry County 1840 census
shows Alexander Wheeler and there is also a G. R.
Wheeler. Don't know if they are related or not. By 1850,
Alexander and family were in Bibb County, GA. Alexander
was a wagonmaker/blacksmith in later years. He shows up
on the 1860 census in Jackson County, Alabama. We would
appreciate any information anyone might have and
especially interested in Alexander's parents and
siblings. Thank you,

- Does anyone know of a home on the Towaliga River (I hope
I spelled it right) near Locust Grove that use to be some
sort of a mill? My source tells me that it was owned by
the Sansing family in the 1800's and has been renovated
and turned into a lovely home. Jerry
