HARLAN, MEDLOCK, POOLE, SMITH posted by Melissa Hill Dees on Wednesday, May 3, 2000

I am looking for the parents of John Reeder MEDLOCK, b. 8/5/1853 in Georgia, m. Mary Ann HARLAN, moved to Marshall County, AL, m. Mary Catherine "Dollie" SMITH, d. 12/9/1926 in Marshall County, AL. Supposedly he had a brother named James MEDLOCK who came to Alabama with him. One of his sons was named Willie Garrison MEDLOCK. Wonder if Garrison Gibson MEDLOCK, b. 4/19/1820, d. 11/13/1896 might be his father? Does anyone know or does anyone have maybe the 1860 Henry County census to find this family? I've really hit a dead end and can't get a response from the helplist. Thanks!!!

JAMES posted by Linda Farley on Saturday, May 13, 2000

At a dead end researching past of my g-grandfather Josiah James, so I'm doing a lateral search. There is a possibility his younger brother was David James, who had a farm on Hwy 138 near Hwy 42 on north side of Stockbridge. David James (1801-1887) is buried with his wife Nancy on hill in back of prresent day Ga Baptist Medical Center, Hwy 138 and I-675. David James had 10 children, some were Lee, Lelia Alice, Julia J.,Frances (married Claud E. Lee), Nancy (married Pressley M. Morris) Mary Ann Elizabeth (married Samuel S. Morris) and believe one was John H. James, an Atlanta banker who was mayor of Atlanta somewhere around 1860-1890. Anyone having any knowldge of this family, any help appreciated. Will be glad to share info I have.
