This cemetery is located in Hawkinsville. The following listings are members
of my family. Since I now live in New Jersey, I will not be able to provide
further transcriptions.
The burial area is fenced with wrought iron, with a gate that can be opened for
entrance. All of the sites include very tall monuments.
1. WILLIAM C. HAMILTON
BORN MARCH 28, 1813
DIED OCT. 15, 1879
A KIND HUSBAND , AFFECTIONATE FATHER, GOOD MASTER,
CHARITABLE TO THE NEEDY AND HONEST IN ALL HIS
DEALINGS WITH MANKIND
(This is a very tall monument, the base of which is inscribed with the
surname: HAMILTON
2. MARY A
WIFE OF
E. MATHEWS
BORN MAY 21, 1818
DIED JULY 3, 1895
A LOVING MOTHER, A DEVOTED WIFE, AND AN HUMBLE CHRISTIAN
(this is also a very tall monument, the base of which is inscribed with the
surname: MATHEWS)
(N.B. Mary was Ephriam Mathew’s second wife)
3. (facing the gravesite, this tombstone is to the right, and slightly ahead of
Mary A Mathews grave)
EPHRIAM MATHEWS
BORN ? 3, 1827
DIED A ????, 1908
The base of this very tall monument is inscribed with the surname: MATHEWS
In back of the monument is laid a marble slab, inscribed with "E. MATHEWS"
In front of the monumnet and the slab is an upright marker with the following
inscription:
CAPT MORGAN’S CAVALRY
1861 - 1865:

MY DEAR MOTHER WOULD YOU PUT MY TOYS OUT HERE BY MY GRAVE.
COME TO SEE THEM, I WAS ALL THAT YOU HAD TO PET, AND THAT WAS
ALL THAT I DID, I HAVE LEFT THEM, ON THE TOY TABLE
WHEN YOU GET THERE TELL THEM THAT I AM GO??ING TOO.
(I couldn’t find dates, but they could have been on the opposite side of the
headstone; I don’t think that I got back there.)

MY DARLING HUSBAND HAS LEFT THIS TROUBLESOME WORLD. I HOPE
