P. 3rd In June 1850 Douglas Branch Meetings commenced first Sunday.
First Sunday in July opened a door for members. Miss Mary Ann JEFFERS & a cullard woman belonging to W. PHILLIPS came forward and was received. Agread to Baptise them at the next Meeting.
First Sunday August. Baptised the two named above. Opened a dore for members when Mrs. MINCY came forward and was received. Agreed to attend to Baptism at the next meeting. Agreed to build a meeting house hear & for that purpus apointed David BURK, Simeon BURK, & Thomas BARBER that Comitee.
First Sunday September. Baptised Mrs. MINCY & opened a dore at the water when Mrs. Ann DAUGHTRY and a cullard man belonging to Mrs. FLOYD by the name of PORTROIL and was received and Baptised.
First Sunday in Oct. none came forward.
First Sunday in November agreed to give PORTROIL a certificate of his Baptism when W. S. MOORE ?? Baptised him give him a certificate. No more joined untill October meeting when the meeting was protracted until November & during the meeting John LEE, Wm CALE,

David BURK, Simeon BURK, Moses THOMPSON, John MOCK, Anny BURK, Homer CALE, Elvira THOMPSON, Margaret THOMPSON, & Savannah DICKSON and all baptised in the close. Sarah DICKSON & Susan MINCY came forward and was received agread to Baptise them at the next meeting. Agread to Constitute at next meeting.
November Meeting opened a dore when Mrs. Mary LEE and a cullard woman belonging to David BURK and were received and all Baptised after a sermon preached by Elder G. L. JACKSON the Church was regularly Constituted.
P. 5th Georgia } We being desirous of being Constituted Scriven County} into A. Church called apon our beloved Brethen Wm. S. MOORE, Samuel SIMMONS, Robert DONALSON, G. L. JACKSON Ordained Ministers of the gospel for that purpos who accordingly met with us on the 2nd day of November 1851 at the within named Church when we were regularly Constituted by the above named Presbytery.
Our articles of Faith are as follows:
Art 1. This Church shall be coled the Douglas Branch Baptist Church of Christ.
Art 2. We believe in one only true and living God and that there is A trinity of persons in the Godhead the Father Son & Holy Gost diffring in office but one in
substance.
Art 3. We believe that the Scriptures of the old and new Testaments are the word of God and the only rule of Faith and practice.
Art 4. We believe in the fall of Adam and the imputation of his Sin to all his posterity in the coruption of human nature and the impotancy of man to recover himself by his own free will ability.
Art 5. We believe in the everlasting love of God to his people, the Covenant of Grace or redemption between the Father and the Son in whom his elect or people was
chosen in Christ before the world began in which there Salvation was secured and they in particular ware redeemed.
Art 6. We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the righteousness of Christ imputed to them and received by faith.
Art 7. We believe that all those who ware chosen in Christ will be effectualy called regenerated converted Sanctified and supported by the Spirit and power of God so that they shall persevere in grace and not one of them be lost.

Art 8. We believe that good works are the fruits of faith and follow after justification and that they only justify us in the sight of men and are evidences of our gracious state.
Art 9. We believe that there will be a resurrection of the dead and a general judgement and the happiness of the righteous and the punishment of the wicked will be
eturnal.
Art 10. We believe that water Baptism and the Lords Supper are ordinances of gospel instuted by Christ and should be observed and kept up for his glory untill his
second coming and that diping is the only proper mode of christian baptism.
For as much as Almighty God by his grace hath called us whoes names are underneath subscribed out of natures darkness into his marvelous light and all of us having bin regularly baptised apon a profession of our faith in Christ Jesus, and having given up our selves to the Lord and one another according to the Scriptures, we do therefore covanent and agree by the assistance of the Lord to keep up a regular discipline of the Church we are members of in the most brotherly affection to watch over each other for good and not for eavel according to the Scriptures in brotherly love to pray for each other and if nead be in the most tender and affectionate manner to reprove each other and to hear to the Saivours directions in the 18th Chapter of St. Matthew gospel and not be whispering and backbiting but pray continualy and in our Families to attend the Church meetings observe the Lords day and not to absent our selves from the communion of the Lords Supper with out a lawful excuse.

to be ready to contribute to the defraying of the Church expenses according to the Scriptures, and irregularly to depart from the fellowship of the Church. These things we do covenant to observe and keep by the assistance of the Lord and Saivour.

The three above was not in the Constitution but ware regularly Baptised.
Having laid down a summary of the faith & order upon which we intend to afficiate we therefore propose for the Decorum of our Church the following plan or form of government.
Art 1. The Church Conference shall open by preaching or prair and closed by Singing or prair.
Art 2. The Conference shall be conducted by a moderator or Elder to rule and shall have a stated Clerk.
Art 3. Only one person shall speak at a time who shall rize from his seat and adress the moderator and adhear particularly to the subject in debate.
Art 4. No male member shall leave the Conference without leaf of the Church.
Art 5. No member of this Church shall adress another by any other title than that of Brother or Sister.
Art 6. The moderator may speak to ro give his lite on any subject if he pleases before he puts the question to vote and may vote only in case of a tie.
Art 7. Any member violating any of the above rules shall be reproved by the Moderator.
Art 8. These rules to be altered or amended at any regular Meeting by two thirds of the members preasent.

First Conference on Saturday before before the first Lords day in December 1851.
Opened a dore for members when MARIAH a cullard woman belonging to Mrs LEE and was received. Then went in to the call of a minister when W. S. MOORE and W. LEE was unanimously chosen then closed in order.

The Church at Douglases Branch met on Saturday be fur the first Lords day in January 1852. After preaching by brother Wm LEE the door of Church was opened for the reception of members and Received by letters the following members James WILSON Dea James P. THOMPSON Dea and Mary A THOMPSON. No other business to attend to only Resolve that brother William W. LEE be ordined on tomorrow Sabbath 4 January 1852. Our blove brotheren Wm S MORE and Samuel SIMON ordained ministers met with the Church after an appropiate discours delivered by brother MORE brother Wm. W. LEE was set apart by the laying of the hanes of the above named brotherin to affishuate in all the offices? of aministern.

The Church at Dugless branch met on Saturday before the first Lords day in February 1852. After preaching by brother W. S. MOORE opend a doore for members when brother Right CAIL handed in his letter from Wades Church and was joyfully received. Then went in to an election for deacons when Brethren James P. THOMSON and James WILLSON was elected. Then went in to an election for Clerk when brother David BURK was elected. Moved that David BURK and Simeon BURK be a committy to set out the met the keping of the meetin house agreed that the first communion be the first Sunday in December and that our next meeting we attend to it and that we attend to it quarterly afterward. Agreed that the Brother CLK read the minute of the last conference before entering on business then closed in order. W. S. MOORE, Moderator

MORE a door was opened for the reception of members when brother William DIXON and Sister Maryan DIXON handed in thare Liter from Wades Church and was Joyaful received. Moved and seconted that Anny DAUGTRY be excommunicated from the Church. Moove that brother John LEE make ecknowledgements for his intemperance. Don so and was forgiven. Then closed in order. W.S. After a Sermond by Bro G. L. Jackson Conference was opened. Read and received the minute of the last conference. ANDREW a (coloured) brother is charged with unchristian conduct. WILL (coloured) and LON (COLOURED) are appointed to see ANDREW and report to the church or to get him to come and make his defence. The same committee are appointed to cite all the coloured members to attend at the next conference. Elected Delegates to the Association to be held with the church at Mill Branch as follows: G. L. JACKSON, David BURK, William NEWTON, and in case of failure J. R. EVANS, James NEWTON & Jas C. BURK. The following resolutions were then offered which were addopted.
1st Resolved That this church will continue to hold in her fellowship, and will for the future still receive into her fellowship coloured persons, whether born free or liberated from Slavery; on condition that such coloured persons maintain in all respects the same relation to the church which was maintained by colored persons before the Slaves were liberated. Except that the action of the colored members shall for the future be confined to the reception, expulsion, and deciplining of the members of their own color, in a conference which is under the supervision of the pastor or deacons of the church.
2nd Resolved that the above resolutions be read to the colored members at the next regular conference held for them and know of them if they still wish to continue their membership with us upon the terms specified in the resolution. If not they will be allowed to take letters and join some other church of the same faith and order. (At October term) After reading the above resolution it was put to vote and the colored members voted unanimously that they still wished to continue their membership with this church upon the terms specified in said resolution. And on motion the colored brethren passed the following resolution.
Resolved that any colored person wishing to join this church shall bring with him or her a recommendation from the person by whom they are at the time employed.
