I am writing a Regimental History on the 17th Georgia Infantry. I am posting the idea of the book in order to locate descendants of the soldiers and officers of the 17th in order to let them be aware of the book and if they have any information they would like included in the book such as photos, letters, diaries, brief genealogical data and burial date and place.

The book will include all references to the 17th Georgia Infantry that are in the Official Records, better known as the "OR Vols". It will also have information as to all of the battles the Regiment took part in, chronological order, a complete roster of each company, abstracted information from all pensions and military records, letters, photos and as much genealogical data as space will permit. I am doing extensive research on this regiment and expect it to take at least 1-2 more years before publication. For more information or to contribute information, please contact me.

Update, October 13, 2003: At this time, I continue to do research and work on the manuscript. I really don't know how much longer it will be. I will continue to take information from descendants up until I am ready to publish. I am probably looking at another year at least.
