Joshua Walker Abell Family

 

Joshua Walker Abell was born about 1853 and died 1898 in Stewart County. J.W. Abell was a Justice of the Peace, commissioned on April 4, 1891, according to the History of Stewart County (Vol. 1). He was succeeded on Jan. 11, 1892. He lived in the Brooklyn area and was the son of Joshua James Abell (b. 5 Feb 1828, d. 11 Jan 1872) and Susan Dozier Abell (b. 7 Jan 1831, d. 21 May 1907). J.W. Abell married Mattie Brown and he had an older brother named Ephraim A. Abell (b. 27 Aug 1851, d. 22 Feb 1920). Ephraim had a son named James W. Abell. Family members are buried at Slaughter Creek Cemetery and possibly also at Red Hill Church cemetery. Info on this family might also be found in Marion County, GA.
