WILLIS3 BARRINGTON (ELISHA2, WILLIAM1) was born June 30, 1791 in Edgefield, Edgefield County, South Carolina, and died October 18, 1837 in Stewart County, Georgia. He married SARAH CEBELLE MATHEWS January 12, 1815 in Edgefield, Edgefield County, South Carolina, daughter of LEWIS MATHEWS and NANCY ALLEN. She was born February 01, 1796 in Edgefield, Edgefield County, South Carolina, and died November 07, 1840 in Stewart County, Georgia.

Notes for WILLIS BARRINGTON:

Willis Barrington was a member of the 454th Georgia Militia of Walton County and served in the ranks of 1st Lt. from 1822 to1823 and was promoted to Captain in 1824.

Willis was listed in Henry County, Georgia in 1830 in the Superior Court Deed Book, he is also found listed in Walton County, Georgia. Willis paid $400 to William Booker for 202-1/2 acres in the Seventh District of Henry County Georgia. In March 1833 Willis Barrington, Harmon Cobb, and Michael Duskin appointed to mark out a new road commencing at Kennedy Dennards and running north of Hodchodkee by way of Michael Duskins, Thence to Mathew Brooks in the 21st District and thence to Irwinton in the State Alabama in 1833, succeeded January 10, 1837. On May 20, 1837, Willis Barrington sold to Drury Mathews, Lot # 14, 27th District, 2nd Section, Drury was possibly his nephew or brother-in-law.

Willis Barrington was a Stewart County Circuit Court Judge.

Willis Barrington was baptised June 22, 1834 at Sardis in Burke County, Georgia, by John Rushing and died October 18, 1837 in Stewart County, Georgia.

The wife of Willis, Cebelle Mathews Barrington, was baptised January 6, 1828 at McDonough, in Henry County, Georgia, by Reverend James Reeves. Later, she was listed in the 1840 Stewart County, Georgia census as Cebell Bearington. Her will and distribution of her estate is recorded in Stewart County, Georgia. Her Bible is mentioned in her will and still exists. It has provided much of the genealogical information on her family, it was owned by Eula Coe Donica of Odessa, Texas.
