Death Claims Miss Ethlene Gibbs

The funeral of Miss Ethlene Gibbs, largely attended and impressive, was held at two-thirty Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Social Circle. The Rev. C. W. Howard, pastor, was the officiating minister.

Pallbearers were J. Roy Malcom, F. M. Lloyd, Robert D. Eckles, Cliff Rogers, J. P. Walton, E. Lovic Hollis, Dudley J. Chandler and Thomas B. Dally. Beautiful were the floral offerings paying lovely and silent tribute to this beloved daughter of Social Circle.

Interment followed in Circle View Cemetery with the E. L. Almand Company, funeral directors, in charge of arrangements.

The death of Miss Gibbs occurred Friday afternoon in the Winder Nursing Home where she had been for several weeks. For the past three years she had lived with her sister, Mrs. Helen Gibbs Flournoy, in Atlanta. Her health had been failing several years.

She was a native of Social Circle, eldest daughter of the late Edward B. Gibbs and Fannie Gresham Gibbs, beloved and prominent citizens of Social Circle. Educated in local school and at Cox College, College Park, she had served as a teacher in our city schools and in other schools of Walton and Morgan county. In this work her wonderful personality and fine influence touched many of the young children, now citizens of worth here and elsewhere, who remembered her for the good traits of character, she implanted in their lives.
