Before the War Between
the States this congregation was composed largely of
county families. Among them were the Green family and the Wilson family. The
Cherry family was prominently identified with early activities of the church and
town. Able assistance was given by the McGill family of Stone church, who
attended regularly.
Members who later were staunch supporters of the church were Dr.
and Mrs. E.
C. Cochran, W. W. Jordan, Mrs. Jennie Wyatt, Mrs. May Fielder, Mrs. Florence
Foster, W. S. Jordan,Mrs. James Headrick, Mrs. Will Emerson, Mrs. L. Q. Howden,
Dr. and Mrs. Word and
Elijah Laymance and family.
