Francis Smith to Hickerson Cosby Deed

This Indenture made the second day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty nine and in the thirteenth year of the Independence of the United States of America, Between Francis Smith of Wilkes County and State of Georgia of the one part and Hickerson Cosby of the said County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Francis Smith for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds Lawfull money of the State of Georgia the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold released and confirmed and by these presents do fully grant bargain, sell release and confirm unto the said Hickerson Cosby his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres on the waters of Rockey Creek on Little River (in the County of Wilkes. Bounded by George Greshams land, John Conels(?) land & Richard Revears land, which land was granted to Samuel Smith by his Honor the Governor in Counsil, the six day of October one thousand sevenr hundred and eighty four, Together with all and singular the right, members, and Appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land, belonging or in any manner Appurtaining, To have and to hold the said tract of land with all and singular the premises and Appurtenances aforesaid and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Hickerson Cosby his heirs and Assigns forever against him the said Francis Smith his Heirs and Assigns and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming any right, or title thereto the said Land and premises aforesaid shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.
