Harper, Samuel
Death of Samuel Harper
Word was received here early Saturday morning
last, of the death of Samuel Harper at his home at Poland Georgia. While
news had been received here earlier in the week, that the end was not
far distant yet when the final word came of Mr. Harper's parting his
many friends here were very much shocked. The deceased was assistant
cashier of the Bank of Williston for four months but owing to ill health
was compelled to give up his duties intending to return as soon as his
health would permit, but instead of getting better his condition
continued to grow worse and two months ago he entered the Sanatorium at
Boxmore, Ashville, N. C. where it was thought he would recover but two
weeks ago his condition became so grave that he was removed to his home
at Poland, Georgia where he died at two o'clock last Saturday Morning.
L. J. Harper, his brother, who has been taking his place at the Bank of
Williston, when word reached him of his brother's serious condition
rushed for his bed side arriving there only a few hours before the end
came. Mr. Harper was cashier here for a few months and while here made a
host of friends who mourn his death. Before coming to Williston was
employed, for a long time, by the Moultrie Banking Co. of Moultrie,
Georgia.

Brantley News
Mr. Zack Hardage received a telegram last
Saturday announcing the death of his daughter, Mrs. Willie Melton, which
occurred in Worth County the 17th inst. The writer knew Mrs. Melton as a
pupil in her early teens and could say much of her amiable traits of
character as a school girl and doubtless her lovely disposition shown
with more resplendence in young womanhood. I extend sincere condolence
to the aged father and her entire family. Submitted by Carla Miles |
