One tract of land, #48 in the 2nd district of Muscogee, now Marion County, 202 acres, for sale by Henry Holcombe who is contemplating a move to Alabama in the ensuing fall (several tracts and lots are listed in other areas of Georgia)

Advertisement: This is to certify, that I have bought one of Mr S R Crenshaw's anti-friction cotton gins of 45 saws, and I have no doubt they are the best article that are now in operation. I can gin 2-3 bales per day, that will average 400 pounds. It makes first rate cotton, and there is no danger of fire at all in ginning to get such a machine. Brought to jail in Tazewell, Marion Co, GA on 11th instant, a negro fellow about 21 years old, dark complected, weighs about 160 lbs, 5'10" or 11" high. Says his name is Sebron and belongs to Thomas Dixon of Stewart County. He had in his possession a pass written with a pencil, and signed by Thos Dixon. The owner is requested to come forward and comply with the law and take him away. Thomas J Parker, Jailer, Tazewell, Jan 20, 1841.
Brought to jail in Marion County on the 11th instant, a negro boy by the name of Bill. Apparently between 12-15 years of age, dark complexion, and says he belongs to David Kaigler of Randolph County, Georgia. The owner is requested to come forward, prove his property as the law directs and take him away. John Y Fletcher, Jailor. August 25.

Administrators Sale: Will be sold on the first Tuesday in October next, at the Court House door in Tazewell, Marion County, agreeable to an order of the Court of Ordinary of Columbia County, lot of land #141 in the 10th Dist, originally Muscogee, now Marion County, belonging to the estate of David Vinson, late of Richmond County, deceased; sold for the benefit of the heirs and assignees of said deceased. Terms cash. Purchaser to pay for titles. Wm L Crawford, Adm, with the will annexed.

Columbus Enquirer: Feb 2, 1842:
Postponed administrators sale. Will be sold in Tazewell, Marion County on the first Tuesday in March next between the usual hours of sale, lot of land #243 in the 2nd Dist of originally Muscogee, now Marion County, sold as the property of James M Smedley, late of Troup County, deceased for the benefit of creditors of said deceased.
Administration Sales - will be sold on the 16th day of Feb next at the late residence of Arthur W Battle, deceased, in Tazewell, Marion County, all the perishable property belonging to the estate of said deceased, consisting of stock of various kinds, law books, blacksmith tools, household and kitchen furniture, house and lot in said town, rented and negroes hired until the 25th of December next. The sale to continue from day to day until all is sold.

Macon Weekly Telegraph, 29 Nov 1842:
We are informed that Sheppard Riley, a very worthy citizen, living in the eastern part of his county, was killed in his own house on the night of the 7th instant, by a man named Weaver, from Marion County. Weaver fled immediately on the perpetration of the act, and has not since been heard of. Several of the neighbors have started in pursuit. We are not sufficiently acquainted with the particulars to lay them before our readers. Columbus Enquirer.

Lot of land #80 in the 30th Dist originally Lee, now Marion County, levied on as the property of Jesse Worrell to satisfy a fifa from Marion inferior court in favor of W D Elam vs S B Howell, John Howell, John Cator and Jesse Worrell.
Lot of land whereon Augustus W Rogers lives, levied on as the property of said Rogers to satisfy two fifa from Superior Court of Marion County, one in favor of David Maddus and the other in favor of Jonathan Stewart vs said Rogers.
One negro woman named Sukey, and her child, fifteen thousand pounds seed cotton, more or less, one 40 saw cotton gin and three sacks of fodder, levied on as the property of John Monk to satisfy a fifa in favor of the Central Bank of Georgia vs said Monk and Wells Smith, security on appeal.

At the same time and place, one negro man named Peter, 50 years of age, a woman named Rachel, 55 years of age, a woman named Thena, 50 years old, Hector a man 30 years old, Alford a boy 18 years old, Emily a girl 6 or 7 years old, George a boy 4 or 5; levied on as the property of A W Battle, deceased, to satisfy two fifas from Marion Superior Court, in favor of Walter T Colquitt vs Daniel Hightower, administrator of the estate of said deceased.
The interest of Mathew W Smith in a house occupied by Dr Baker as an office, also his interest in the house occupied by E Titcomb, as a tavern, and also his interest in a one acre lot occupied by H F Smith, the number on which the buildings stand not known. All lying in the town of Tazewell, levied on as the property of said Smith to satisfy fifa from Marion Superior Court, in favor of James Johnson.
Lot of land #107 in the fourth district of formerly Muscogee now Marion County; levied on as the property of H K Lamb, to satisfy a fifa issued from Marion Superior Court, in favor of H S Smith.
100 acres of land, more or less in the 4th District of formerly Muscogee, now Marion County; levied on as the property of Samuel Mauk, being the place whereon he now lives, to satisfy a fifa from Marion Superior Court, in favor of Willis Wiggins.
Lot of land in the 12th District of formerly Muscogee, now Marion County, number not known being the place whereon Michael Watson formerly lived; levied on as his property to satisfy a fifa from Marion Superior Court, in favor of Maddox, Butt and Co.

Augusta Chronicle, 26 July 1845:
Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone - At his residence in Marion County, Georgia on the morning of the 2nd July inst. Capt George H Buchanan, a Revolutionary Soldier, in the 87th year of his age. Capt Buchanan was born in the State of Virginia, and at an early age he removed to the State of South Carolina, where he entered the service in the War of the Revolution, where he served as a Corporal and Sergeant 7 years; he resided in South Carolina between 35 and 40 years, from thence he emigrated to Jasper County, Georgia where he resided until the year 1832, when he removed to Marion County where he remained until his death. Capt Buchanan was a good citizen and was respected by all who knew him; he had been for the last 17 years an acceptable member of the Baptist Church and died in full triumph of Faith in the Redeemer.

Augusta Chronicle, 13 Nov 1845:
We regret to learn, from a private letter received by the Representative from Marion, Mr Bivins, that the Court House, at Tazewell, Marion County, was destroyed by fire on the morning of the 4th inst. The fire was discovered about half past one o'clock AM. All the records, books and paper belonging to the Sheriff and the Clerks of the several courts were destroyed. There appears to be no doubt but that the fire was the work of an incendiary, as there has been no fire in the stove in the Court House since last winter.
