William D. McDaniel (son of Jacob McDaniel and Elizabeth Watts)
b 3 Jan 1787, probably Chatham Co NC. He died aft 1860 probably in Covington
Co AL area. He married Dolly Harris, the daughter of Benjamin Harris. She
was born ca 1787, probably in Chatham Co NC, and died 16 Aug 1856, in either
GA or in AL.
1808, 24 Sept: David Justice of Chatham County NC, sold to Samuel McDaniel 1,200 acres for $3,000 beginning at Clarks corner of his 800 acre tract west 480 poles to a stake, east to Clarks line 480 poles, South 400 poles with Clarks line to the beginning. Witnesses John L. Wood, William McDaniel (land mostly north of Duck River, South of Caney Spring, west/southwest corner lying south of River - Maury County, TN)-possibly our William, however there are two William McDaniels in Maury County in 1840-which are not our William. This is the Samuel who is the possible brother of Jacob Sr.
1808, Dec 21: Maury Co TN: Ordered that Anthony J. Turner be overseerer of road in room of Wm. McDonald who removed. (Possibly our William, as Samuel McDaniel who may have been his uncle was in Maury County TN at that time.
1809, December: Maury Co, TN: mention of William McDaniel as one of those working on a road to Bedford County, TN - possibly our William, see 24 Sept 1808.
1810: not in his fathers family unit in 1810 census - nor shown anywhere
else. Could have been in Maury Co TN with Samuel McDaniel?
1810, Sept: Maury County, TN. among hands to work under Robert Gassaway for road from Glat Creek to Bedford Line: Samuel McDonald and William McDonald and (blank) Woods. - Is this our William McDaniel, see 24 Sept 1808? - it is the Samuel McDaniel that we think is Jacob's brother.. Woods was Samuel McDaniel's son in law
1812, Chatham County, NC – not sure if this is the right William McDaniel: John Davidson is appointed overseer of the road the ensuing year in the room of William McDaniel and the following hands to work under him.

1836: notice in Columbus, GA Enquirer newspaper Strayed or Stolen from subscriber on Thursday night, one small horse, seven years old next spring. The horse was taken from Anderson Jones’ horse lot at his dwelling in

June 1862: (seven days fight of Frasers Farm) he was wounded in the left eye by a buck shot which
entirely destroyed the sight and in May 1864 (Battle of the Wilderness) was wounded in the
right leg below the knee which resulted in amputation of the leg below the knee. Buried
