1880-1890
"Brantley has two good stores which are doing a thriving business. The people of this district are earnest in their attention to education; hence a good school can always be found in that community. In this section can be found a succession of small farms which seem to blossom like well kept gardens. Special attention is given to raising fruit and the best grapes, peaches, apples and melons can be found here. In 1879 this district was named for a family of Brantleys who moved from this vicinity to Louisiana during the fifties (1850's). There are a number of good churches in the Brantley district. Dr Wesley Jefferson lived here until the fall of 1885. W B Short reaches the school.
