Application of Charles E Walker and his two minor children, John W Walker and
Saxton Walker as Mississippi Choctaws.
This is a abstract of the application of Charles E Walker:
Charles E Walker; age 49 on April 1st 1902; claims 1/32nd Choctaw blood.
Living in Columbia Alabama since August 1878. Before that he was living at Fort Gaines, GA from 1865 to 1878. He lived before that in Dawson GA, was born in Marion County GA.
His father was John R T Walker, deceased, Choctaw blood through father.
His mother was Martha Walker, deceased.
Mrs. Ann J Garrard, who was a full sister of his father submitted a joint affidavit of W P and N C Vinson which covers the proof of marriage of parents.
Father died in 1884, was 56 years old at that time. Father was born in Jones County Georgia, and lived in Alabama when he died.
Choctaw blood was through his father's father: William Booth Walker.
Charles E Walker is married at the time to Lillie G Walker, who has no Choctaw blood.
He has two children: John W Walker who was 18 years old in Jan 1902; second child is Saxton Walker who was nine.
Charles Walker was married to Lillie E Grist. at Ft Gaines GA by a minister named Cowley.
Briefly mentions the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, and Article 14 under which Charles is claiming his rights.
There is a notation "The applicant has the appearance of being a white man and shows no indication of being possessed of Indian Blood. He does not speak or understand the Choctaw language."
There is that Mrs Ann J Garrard gave information on his ancestry, tho it is not mentioned in this paper.
