Marion County, Georgia: This indenture made and entered into this twenty eight
day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty six between William
McDaniel of the aforesaid state and County of the one part and Howell Short of
the County of Talbot and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the
said William McDaniel for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred
dollars to him in hand paid at or before the signing and delivering of the
presents the receipt and whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day granted
bargained sold and delivered unto the said Howell Short his heirs and assigns
all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the fifth district
originally Muscogee now Marion County known by lot No 142 one hundred and forty
two containing two hundred two and a half acres more or less to have and to hold
said tract or parcel of land unto the said Howell Short his heirs and assigns
together with all and singular the rights members(?) and appurtances these of to
the same in any manner belonging in fee simple and further said William McDaniel
for himself his heirs executors and administrators the said bargained premises
unto the said Howell Short his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend
the right and title thereof against himself and heirs? but no others --- ---
whatsoever in writing when of the said William McDaniel hath hereunto sit his
hand and seal this day and year above written signed sealed and in presences of
William Hollis and John C. Short. Signed William McDaniel. (This land was

Written: 1847: 20 Feb: Muscogee Co GA, recorded in Marion Co GA: This indenture made and entered into this 20th day of February in the year of our lord 1847 between Daniel Majors of the county and state aforesaid and John C. Short of Talbot County and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Daniel Majors for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt hereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and conveyed unto the said John C. Short his heirs and assigns all that parcel of land situate lying and being in the fifth district of Muscogee County it being a part of that lot of land number one hundred fifteen in said district which lies west of a cut -- large hollow and a branch which makes out of the said hollow and running in a southern direction commencing when said hollow crosses the north line of said lot of land near B. Mathews thence down said hollow to the head of said branch and down to where it crosses the south line of said lot the said west part of said lot containing seventy acres be the same more or less. Also that portion of lot of land which lies in said dist K--- by the number 110 it being the east part of said lot of land and lying east of two large hollows in said lot commencing where a --- hollow crosses the south line of said lot and running up the center of said hollow to a ridge in said lot of land and over said ridge to the head of a hollow which makes out of said lot and down said hollow to when the same crosses the north line or said lot the said east portion of said lots containing seventy acres more or less and lying broad side with the aforesaid.

This indenture made and entered into this the eighth day of November and in the
year of our Lord 1847 between John P. Mitchell of the one part and John C. Short
of the county of Talbot County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth
that the said John P. Mitchell for and in consideration of the sum of fifty
dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivering of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold
and conveyed and does by this presents sell unto John C. Short his heirs and
assigns all that tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the fifth
district of the County of Muscogee and State and known and distinguished in the
plan of said district by No 115 one hundred and fifteen containing thirty acres
more or less it being the northeast part of the west half of said lot including
the part that lyes between the big holler and the outer line that divides said
lot of land north and south and running down to the head of the branch one
hundred yards including all the improve land around the house where Mary
Lunsford now lives with all the rights members and appurtances thereunto
belonging to have and to hold the afore described lot of land unto him the said
John C. Short his heirs and assigns together with all the rights members and
appurtances to the said lot or parcel of land in anywise belonging to his and
their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple and the said John
P. Mitchell for himself his heirs executors and administrators the said
bargained premises together with the right title and possession thereof unto the
said John C. Short his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the
right and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other
persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said John P. Mitchell hath hereunto
set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written. John P.

This indenture made this third day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen
hundred and forty-six between John D Wells of the one part and Meredith Duke of
the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one
hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and
delivery of this presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said
John D Wells hath bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth hereby
grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Meredith Duke his heirs and assigns
all that tract of land situate lying and being in the 3rd district of
originally Muscogee now Marion County known and distinguished in the plan of
said district by being lot number eighty-seven(87) containing two hundred two
and a half acres to have and to hold said bargained premises together with all
the rights and privileges from the said John D Wells his heirs and assigns
executors and administrators to him the said Meredith Duke his heirs and assigns
to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple and the
said John D Wells for himself and his heirs executors and administrators to the
said Meredith Duke himself his heirs and assigns will forever warrant and defend
the right and title of said lot of land free from the claims of myself my heirs
and assigns. In testimony whereof the said John D Wells hath hereunto set his
hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered in the
presence of Darling Duke, Lewis Duke.

Additional Comments: The deed for this land sale is filed in Marion County, but
the land is in Schley County today.

of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty-seven between Andrew J. Kirksey of the
county and state aforesaid of the one part and Meredith Duke of the same place
of the other part
witnesseth that the said Andrew J. Kirksey for and in consideration of the sum
of seventy dollars to him in hand paid at and before this sealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted
bargained sold and conveyed and does by these presents grant bargain and sell
and convey unto the said Meredith Duke his heirs and assigns one half of lot of
land situate lying and being in the third district of originally Muscogee now
Marion County known and distinguished in the plan of said district by the number
seventy-four (74) containing one hundred one and one fourth acres more or less
with all the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to
hold the aforesaid described parcel of land unto him the said
Meredith Duke his heirs and assigns together with all the rights members and
appurtenances to the said parcel of land in any wise belonging to his and their
own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple and the said Andrew J.
Kirksey for himself his heirs executors and administrators the said bargained
premises together with the rights title and possession thereof unto the said
Meredith Duke his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right
and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other persons
whatsoever in testimony whereof the said Andrew J. Kirksey hath hereunto set his
