Your petitioner is 36 years of age, is a native born citizen of the United States and lives in Marion County where he has resided for the last nine years.  He is a plain farmer and has never been a professional partitician.  He never held nay office under the Govt of the United Sates.

He was, for a while during the rebellion a post master at Glenalta, Marion County GA, a small county Post Office.  He was within military age and --- at conscription, and being in feeble health he accepted for awhile the position of post master as aforesaid which exempted him from conscription in the Confederate States Army.  He served in the Army of the Rebellion only in this way, that he was for a short time called out in the Militia by the Governor of the State and served in that capacity for a very short time.
