Terrell County was formed in 1856 from Lee and Randolph Counties. Named for Dr. William Terrell of Hancock County, a member of the Georgia legislature and representative in congress, Terrell County is in the Southwestern part of the state of Georgia and is bounded on the North by Webster and Sumter counties, on the East by Lee, on the South by Dougherty and Calhoun and on the west by Randolph. The county seat is Dawson. Parrott, Bronwood and Sasser are other towns in Terrell County.

Their hard work and dedication to gathering and presenting free genealogical information to the public through USGenWeb are highly appreciated, and it is an honor to follow in their footsteps.
