Applicant for Indigent Pension, 1895
Born in Muscogee County GA in 1820.
Was in the Georgia Militia, enlisted March 1863 in Macon Georgia. Company C, 46th Regiment. Remained about 6 months. I left Company C and was sent to Macon Georgia to guard prisoners and served there six months. Regular military duty was twelve months.. Discharged March 1865, Macon Georgia from sickness.
Occupation: farmer.
Earns nothing from his own labor.
Physical condition: one leg has been broken and is so badly bent, can hardly walk even with use of crutches, one arm is broken and have been so (since) 1865, mule threw me in War.
How long in condition that you could not support self: Since 1865, I have been infirm and could do no work from broken leg and arm and am now 76 years old and from advanced age couldn't work.
Owns no property.
Has wife and seven children, all got families but one, he (is) married and is named Willey Wall and live with him.
Susan Wall, widow of Jesse Wall, application for indigent pension
Married Jesse Wall 22 September 1850, Muscogee County GA. He died March 1897 and she has not remarried.
Jesse was on the indigent pension roll and received $60 per year. He was a soldier in Co C, 46th Regt Volunteers.
How are you afflicted: old age, rheumatism, nearly blind, am 74 years old. Has been supported by children who are all grown and married. Owns no property, has no income. Has resided in Georgia all her since since September 1833.
Affidavit for witnesses: 6 July 1907. JH Story; JC Fussell and Joe J Dunham. That Susan Wall is widow of Jesse Wall who died Marion County Marc 1897, that they lived together as man and wife from the first they knew them - about 20 years. That she is very old; feeble and nearly blind.
Physicians affidavit: W A Drane MD and J A Weaver MD. That Susan Wall is nearly blind, that she is old, very feeble and infirm. She cannot earn and support self in any way.
Marriage license from Muscogee County from the County Ordinary: License for Jessie Wall to Susan Harvel 19 Sept 1850 and marriage 22 Sept 1850 by Hillard J Williams JP.
