Ebenezer Church Cem. m. January 23, 1881. George was a teacher and a farmer. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church at Boiling Springs for nearly 50 years. Early in his life he was a teacher at the Phillips School. An attendance record in his handwriting, dated August 9, 1880, (see page 30) shows Sarah Phillips as one of his pupils; less than six months later they were married. Sarah was a homemaker and, judging from her obituary, she was widely respected, loved and admired. She was disabled by strokes for the last several years of her life. The inscription on their tombstone reads, "Safely anchored in the harbor of Eternal Rest."
