John & Alice Henneberry - 01/19/98 I have been researching my great aunt and family for the past twenty years, to no avail. Last year I finally located my aunt and family in Dalton, GA. Their family data is as follows: Susan (FREER) WELLS, born abt 1850 in McKean County, PA, the daughter of Peter and Lucena (GRIMES) FREER. She married Chauncey or Chancy WELLS, born abt 1836 in NY State. Two children are known: James (born 1873 in PA); John (born 1878 in PA). They were living in McKean Co, PA as per the 1880 PA Census. They moved to Chetek, Barron Co, WI after 1880; later moved to Beauregard/Wesson area, Copiah Co, MI and operated a poultry farm. Chancy is belived to have died in Wisconsin or he and Susan divorced. Susan and her two sons moved to Dalton, GA after 1900 as she and two sons were found in the 1909 Dalton City Directory. They lived at 1 Elm Street. John was a laborer; James was a printer/advertiser/writer. The info that I am seeking is obituaries for Chauncy, Susan, John, and James and what cemetery they are buried in. Also are there living descendants for James and John whom I may correspond with. Any help with this family will be appreciated. This family's info will be included in the FREER family history already compiled. For further info, please contact Alice (Freer) Henneberry, 1311 East 41st Street, Erie PA, 16504-2509.

Carol Taylor - 02/23/98 I am doing research on Ransom SEAY who was listed with his wife Sarah and son Alexander Marion in the 1860 census. I am reasonably certain that Ransom SEAY was born in South Carolina in 1797. Alexander Marion was born in 1840, married Emmaline ARNOLD before 1861 when his oldest son Jefferson was born. Probably sometime in the 1870s, Alexander and Emmaline came to Montague county Texas where they bought a cattle ranch. Alexander died before 1880. By 1890, Jefferson and his brother Oscar SEAY were running cattle in the Big Pasture across the Red River in Indian Territory which they probably leased from the Chickasaw Indians. Jefferson married Laura Belle HARDY, date unknown. Their children were Robert, Nell, Virgil, Hardy, Jefferson and Ruby. I am a descendant of Virgil. Oscar SEAY married Laura HARDY's sister. I am trying to determine the parents of Ransom SEAY, the marriage date of Alexander Marion SEAY and Emmaline ARNOLD and the time that they left Georgia. Any hints to point me in the appropriate direction would be appreciated. I am the genealogist/local historian at the Walworth Harrison Public Library in Greenville, Texas.

Wanda Richardson - 11/23/98 Does anyone know of a Saleta/Selita Ann Francis Crow/Holcombe??? A Crow family bible page states Alfred M. Crow married Saleta Ann Francis Crow on Sept. 13, 1868. But family lore says her maiden name was Holcombe. She appears in census records as "Ann F." She was born May 07, 1848 and died March 22, 1881. Alfred Crow was a shoemaker and this family resided in Walker and Whitfield Cos. Their children: Mary Emma, b. 1869; George W., 1872; Henry Milton, 1874; Minnie L., 1876; Charles Alfred, 1878; and Martha Francis, 1881, died as infant. Holcombe connections to this family include Adolphus (Uncle Dol) Holcombe, "Aunt Mollie" Holcombe, Ella and Bert Holcombe. Further complication: A Selita, age 3, (matches birthdate) and Salina, age l, appear in the 1850 Cobb Co. census as youngest children in the household of Samuel B. Crow, but not in his household in the 1860 census when he was in St Claire, AL. Any clues to solving this maiden name mystery would be joyfully received!
