Deed Book 15:444, 21 September 1793, Mary Hathcock (probably a free African American) set free from Bondage one Negro man named Daniel Grain. Deed Book 16:205, 24 March 1795, I Sarah Myrick do herby declare that I will not seek to retain in Bondage those slaves emancipated by my deceased husband and do give up all claim to them and the land and all the corn that is coming to them provided the Negroes are not kept as slaves by another person. Deed Book 17:39, 11 March 1797, I Caleb Manning of Brunswick set free from Bondage the several slaves hereafter mentioned: one Negro man named Roger, one Negro woman named Sally to be free 25 December next with the future increase.
