Thomas Stewart (a free African American) left a 14 October 1790 Greensville County will leaving his slaves Solomon and Anaky to his wife Crecy, directing that they be treated well and freed after six years [WB 1:181-3]. Solomon Scott registered as a free Negro in Greensville County on 12 March 1807 [Register of Free Negroes, no. 18].
