Orders 1788-9, p.148, 2 September 1788, Margaret Lewis base born Mulatto child aged 3 years last April bound to James Johnston.

p.406, June 1789, Instrument of writing emancipation of Negroe Mimy from Thomas Bryan Martin, Esq.

Orders 1789-91, p.377, September 1790, overseers of teh poor bind Janey a free Negroe aged about 14 years to Daniel Norton to learn to read & write.

p.385, October 1790, overseers of the poor bind Margaret a free negroe aged 6 the 1 October and Cate a free negroe aged 9 the 30 June last to Isaac Lance(?).

p.479, December 1790, overseers of the poor bind John a Molatto child aged 2 to George Rice.

Orders 1791-2, p.62, April 1791, Winne a Mulatto bound to George Murray.

Will Book 5, part 1, 16-19, William Jolliffe of County of Frederick, ...wife Elizabeth my two Negroes Jean and Ruth till they arrive to the age of eighteen years...to be set free and at liberty from Bondage in their good behaviour and not otherwise be under care of trustees appointed by the Monthly Meeting. 15 first month 1769. Proved 24 January 1770.

Will Book 5, part 2, 668, 3rd day fifth month 1779, Elizabeth Joliffe (widow) authorize my friends Rees Cdwallader and David Ross to take care of a Negro woman and a girl that came of her Body in hiring her out and applying the mone for her use in purchasing things necessary for her and the child which is named Ruth, to be bound out until she may arrive to the age of 18 years and that she may in said time learn to read and that at the age of 18 she the said Ruth be totally free as her Mother is only to be under the care and management of the said Rees Cadwallader and David Ross if then living otherwise persons as the Monthly Meeting my cause to appoint for the Management of both the sd Negroes. signed. Proved 2 September 1783.
