Deed Book 7, 1793-1797, p. 146, Deed of Emancipation Nelson Colvert to the following Negro slaves: Chloe a woman, Rachel, Milbrey. 5 October 1795

Deed Book 8, 1797-1800, Emancipation William Bouldin to negro woman Charlotte. 11 October 1799.

Deed Book 9, 1801-3, p.1, Emancipation of Reuben by Patrick Henry at the time of his death possessed of a Mulatto man named Reubin by his last will set free two slaves. signed Dorothea widow of said Patrick Henry.

Will Book 2, 1791-1805, p.21, James Tarpley...my Negro woman Fann shall be free 1 January 1800...boy Daniel 1809. proved 6 February 1792.

WB 2:73, 4 June 1795, my man Roger who has faithfully served me many years should after my decease have his ? to go where he pleases.

WB 2:94-5, Richard Elliott to son Robert Elliott remainder of lands on north side of Stiles Creek with following Negroes: Billy Chavus, Abrum, Charles, Billy Merit and their increase. 2 November 1796, proved 5 December 1796.

WB 2:124a, inventory of Richard Elliott...Slaves:Billy Brown 90 pounds, Billy Merit 90 pounds, Jack Stark 100 pounds, Billy Chavis 50 pounds.

DB 8, 1797-1800, pp. 150-1, Suckey Chavus of Charlotte County for the natural love and affection to my daughter Sally Chavus whom I purchased of Thomas Read Junior for 40 pounds do emancipate her...no longer to be considered a slave. 31 January 1799. Sucky x Chavus.
